Fall is in the air.....

We never thought it would get here, but at least it has finally gone down to the 90's in Sugar Land. Still no rain, but we are spending more time outside these days.

Mandy and Nana recently came down to visit us. Poor Mandy......I was so sick with the stomach bug when she was here:( She played mom for 2 days! Thank you, Mandy. Nana came to visit and kept Brooks while Trent and I took a mini-vacation to San Antonio. Now that my mom has spent some more time with Brooks and his "spirited" personality, she can fully understand our frequent frustrations with this little guy. I ordered "The Strong-Willed Child" by James Dobson, and plan to get this all under control (yea right!).

Thank you, Mandy! I love my game day chair
So happy at the park in the "cool" weather

This is yet another reason why we had to get rid of the kitten! Nana, click on the triangle in the middle of the picture. Click it only ONE TIME! This video was taken a few months ago.....Brooks looks so much younger!

Where does the time go???

Between all this hot, dry weather, work, play, golf tournaments and friends, I am now getting around to updating my blog. First and foremost, Brooks is doing WONDERFUL at Primrose. This is such a relief for Trent and me:) He walks in his little room like he owns the place, looks and me and then says "bye bye mama." Doesn't make me sad at all! I love that he loves it. We have spent much of our time this summer looking for places to play that are indoors. Thankfully, we have a great neighbor that moved next to us and has a child the same age as Brooks. She knows ALL the places to take the kiddos, and we have enjoyed our time with them.

There has been a first for Trent and me this summer........TEMPER TANTRUMS! This kiddo can throw 'em like a champion. Our "spirited" little guy can throw himself on the floor, bang his head on the wood floor, demolish the decorations on the coffee table and scream until the neighbors come knocking..........all because I gave him milk instead of water, watermelon instead of cantaloupe, didn't give him the knife he was pointing to, shut the door when he wanted it open, etc. You get the point. Why and when does this end? Trent recently video'd one of the fits and when he asked my mom what she thought, her reply was "he got the gene." "What gene?" asked Trent. My mom replied with "the Kristin gene." I don't think I was the easiest baby. You pay for your raising, right?
My new big boy hair cut.....the faux hawk
I put this picture on here because this is a typical situation at our house. Brooks tugs at my leg throughout the day. I have become very good at vacuuming, styling my hair, cooking, laundry, etc with this extra little appendage!
Trent crawling with Jake Staudt
"Boo!" Aunt Kasey gave Brooks this tunnel for his birthday and it is now like another piece of furniture in the living room.
We visited the children's museum in Houston, and there were so many toys that Brooks was mesmerized by.
T-party.....yes, boys can play that too!
This is Mia.....our new neighbor! Brooks loved this little car.
Giant light bright
This kind of stuff amazes me.....where did he learn this? I swear I never taught him how to put gas in the tank!
Okay, Primrose actually has "homework!" This little yellow puppet's name is Erwin. He is the "class pet" for Brooks' classroom. We had to bring him home and take pictures of Brooks with their "pet." There was a notebook I had to document this in and then write all we did with Erwin.....wow!
Look at the little family!

What a weekend......

Blake and Kasey welcomed Hallie James Brazelton to this world on July 31st. Everyone is doing well, and most people say that she looks like Blake. Trent and I are so happy to be an aunt and uncle, and look forward to building memories with our little Hallie.

And then today.......very bittersweet day in our house. Our little Brooksie started "school." We had to say goodbye to Edith and hello to Primrose. Not to our surprise, Brooks did much better than Trent and me. He was surrounded by toys and other kids....didn't even notice us leave the room. We'll see......I am chomping at the bit to go get him! More to come on this experience!

Another accident?????

Yep, our little guy seems to find EVERY hazardous situation to get into that he can! Two weeks ago, I came home from work and the babysitter said that he was stung by a wasp AGAIN. That makes 4 times (I haven't been stung by a wasp 4 times in MY LIFE). Last week, I came home to find he had a black eye. He loves to push over tables and found him one in the backyard.....fell on the leg of the table. More to follow, I am sure!

Talk about money down the drain, literally! Here's a story.......he loves to play with these large leggos and carries them around the house. His other obsession is water, which we all know. Put these two together and you get a large leggo in the toilet. Of course it went down in the toilet hole (what's that thing called, anyway?), and $260 later our plumbing was fixed. Nice.

I know this picture doesn't quite fit in, but look at my sweet little Bella! She turned into a Chihuahua after her last hair cut. I didn't mean SHAVE her:(
Uncle Bronco gave Brooks a new dump truck. He pushes it while saying "vroooooommmm"

"yum, these are so good!"
Learning to eat with a spoon but would much rather get as much as he can and shovel in his mouth. We have got to learn better table manners!
Not a very good picture but black eye on top lid with a scrape down to his nose
"Mom, I HATE these haircuts. I am going to jump, I swear!"
*****P.S. Trent informed me that in all my previous posts I have misspelled agua. I was spelling aqua, like the color. Ooops......I never claimed to be a proficient speller in Spanish

Hot Summer Fun

Hot is definitely the word! Thank goodness for "aqua!" Yes, Brooks is still obsessed with water:) Now that he is on his feet, he is getting more and more brave. This past month he was been stung 3 times by a wasp, jammed the corner of his eye into coffee table, had several head scratches and got roseola. It might seem that I don't keep a good eye on him, but it all happens so fast! Who would know that he would try to pick up a wasp....really? The same day he bumped his eye, I looked over and saw him chewing on something. I guess the mulch in the yard is good? Wow.......

See the booboo on the corner of his eye. Yes, he is watering the wood bench.

Old McDonald's Farm.....

Well, we had a cat for awhile! I don't like to think of myself as a "cat person," but I do like them, I have to admit. I found a sweet, little kitten in the bushes at work. No momma cat, so I decided to surprise Trent with his new house guest. Trent actually liked the little fella that we named Blue. However, the less than 1 pound kitten quickly learned to come in the house thru the doggy door. THIS WAS SUPPOSED TO BE AN OUTSIDE CAT ONLY, as Trent is "allergic" to cats. Well, I found a home for Blue, but I really miss him:(

In addition to that eventful weekend, we got to see little Chase (oh, Meg and Doug too)! I wish Brooks would have been more playful, but he got his first ear infection that weekend. I tell ya, it sure was fun waiting 2 hours on Memorial Day weekend at the urgent care center with sick kids everywhere. These kids have grown quite a bit compared to last year.......
